Inspiration

Lo-fi culinary world

Daydream Cousine is a VR rhythm game inspired by Beat Saber and Fruit Ninja, reimagining cooking as a musical interaction. Its lo-fi aesthetic (soft lighting, warm colors, and minimal environments) is a calm contrast to the demanding rhythm gameplay, keeping the focus on timing, coordination, and movement.

Technologies

Behind the scenes

Developed in Unity, the game uses VR Interaction Framework (VRIF) to manage physical tool interactions and player feedback in VR. To achieve precise synchronization with music, Koreographer was implemented, allowing beats and musical cues to directly drive ingredient movement and interaction timing.

Final product

Built around the beat

Music defines how the game is played. Ingredients follow consistent arcs timed to the track, and success depends on focus, precision, and rhythm awareness. Players internalize patterns and timing, shifting from reaction to flow, so cooking becomes a rhythm challenge you feel in your hands.
